12.28.19 What made our Christmas so wonderful!

This Christmas was wonderful! There were four events that made it so wonderful.

Most important was Christmas Eve with our sons and their families. Our sweet Ella was sick with fever so she and our daughter in law Amy weren’t able to be with us. Amy did send a bunch of food that we all gobbled away on!  We all opened presents and ate together.

This first picture is all of us minus Ella and Amy and plus our adopted granddaughter Madelyn and grandpuppy Samson!

Chip, Roy and Chad

The men and our youngest grandchildren, minus sweet Ella

Everyone except me! I was taking the photos!

Kallie got to be the older cousin making sure the little ones behaved. Though with those three I don’t think they needed anyone to tell them to behave and eat their food. They are delightful children.

Roy, Madisyn and Chip – Now these three need to be monitored!

Jacob, Misty and Chad

Our only grandson, Jacob, is quite the fisherman and loved this Christmas present!

We gave our grandpuppy Samson a tuxedo outfit and this is him wearing it!

The second and the very best event of Christmas was Roy and I, our two sons and their families attending Christmas Eve Worship at the church the boys grew up in and that we still attend.  We always attended Christmas Eve Worship together when the boys were growing up and this is the first time in many years we’ve been able to do this.

Being in church with my sons families was the most meaningful part of Christmas for me.  My heart was so full and so happy. Two of my grandchildren sat next to me and hearing them sing every word of the songs we sang made me so thankful for their Christian parents who have raised them in a Christian home and church where they hear these songs sung. They sang out and their little voices were so precious! I am also very thankful that both of our son’s families are very active in their own churches. They are raising their children to understand the love of God and what Jesus did by giving his life on Calvary to save us from our sins. That is the most important thing they can teach their children and they are!

Our pastor, Rev. Avery Dixon preached a very meaningful sermon. His daughter Mia sang and her brother Aiden played the piano on O Come All Ye Faithful. What a blessing that was!

I have to admit that I couldn’t resist taking this precious picture in church.  Look down our row and you’ll see my tiniest little granddaughter with her head on her Aunt Misty’s lap sound asleep.  She had a busy day and needed to crash with her candle still in her hand, not lit though!

The third and fourth events that made our Christmas special were the Children’s Christmas music and the Adult Choir’s Christmas music. I’ve always said it doesn’t feel like Christmas until one of those musicals are performed.  I do not remember which one it is but here’s photos from both of them!

The Children’s music entitled POLAR EXPRESS to the manger! It was co-written by our very own favorite ladies Rebecca and Kaylon Willoughby.

The adult choir music was entitled ALL IS WELL, directed by our dear friend Teddy Forrest. I love these people (which I’ve probably said on our blog a dozen times before) and their desire to share the love of God in song. Thank you for making this Christmas special!

We use to participate in or attend several Christmas events running from place to place. As we’ve grown older we realized all those events just wore us out. These events above survived the cut since they represent Christmas with family and at church with God.

I hope your Christmas was centered around the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Best! Santa is cool, but Jesus is way cooler!

Have a blessed weekend! Today is the LSU vs. Oklahoma football game! Geaux LSU Tigers!
