04.07.20 A quiet thought, by Bro. Bob Adams

Today is the anniversary of the day I became a mama! My oldest son is now 41! Wasn’t he the cutest little boy!!! Happy Birthday!

A quiet thought, by Bro. Bob Adams

In the throes of this world-wide pandemic I see God everywhere!

Surely He is visible in the scriptures, prayers, and music of worship that come easily and richly to faithful believers.

However, He is also present beyond the words and music of our beautiful faith.
The crisis has birthed magnificent displays of the creative spirit: Stories. Jokes. Memes. Poems. Music. Pictures. These sometimes shake us with laughter and sometimes melt us in sorrow, but it is all a fresh-born expression of sacred peoples’ minds and hearts.

The source of such human creativity must be God Himself, the Eternal Creator! God is also glimpsed in every gloved hand and masked face.

He is found in the six feet between people standing in lines to get supplies. All these shout, “I will protect my loved ones, and myself, and even you – the stranger.”

Surely this protective spirit has its roots in God who hovers over us as a mother hen covers her chicks. Look out and see all the selfless acts of service on display around us.

The truckers driving long, lonely miles.

The policeman risking his life to guard our streets and cities.

The checkout clerk spending the day close to endless faces with panting breaths.

Government leaders carry the suffocating burden of making wide-ranging life and death decisions.

Every health care worker that rises day after day and night after night to wade into the middle of a vast cauldron of suffering people is an expression of God’s own unselfish sacrifice for us.

On and on and on . . . Hallelujah!

Thank you Bro. Bob! We miss you and Ms. Janice.

HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
and long for heaven and home,
when Jesus is my portion?
My constant friend is he:
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me;
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy, (I’m happy)
I sing because I’m free, (I’m free)
for his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,”
his tender word I hear,
and resting on his goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
though by the path he leadeth
but one step I may see:
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me;
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
for his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted,
whenever clouds arise,
when song gives place to sighing,
when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to him;
from care he sets me free:
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me;
his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
for his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know He watches me.

HIS MERCY IS MORE

Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness
New every morn’
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

What love could remember
No wrongs we have done
Omniscient all-knowing
He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea
Without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness
New every morn’
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

What patience would wait
As we constantly roam
What Father so tender
Is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest
The vilest the poor
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness
New every morn’
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

What riches of kindness
He lavished on us
His blood was the payment
His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt
We could never afford
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness
New every morn’
Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

Our sins they are many
His mercy is more

INVITATION HYMN

TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

2 Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion-
For more than conq’rors we are!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

3 His word shall not fail you – He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well.
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

We look forward to Worshiping together again with you all next Sunday! May God Bless all of you!

Precious Lord, Take My Hand, page 450

Here are the lyrics only

“O Praise The Name (Anástasis)”

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet
My Saviour on that cursed treeHis body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all aloneO praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our GodAnd then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the KingO praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our GodHe shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ faceO praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Invitation Hymn

The song “O Praise the Name” is by Hillsong Worship.  I’ve fallen in love with the words describing what God did for us when his son Jesus Christ. I am including a video containing the music and the words so that you can listen to it yourself. You might find yourself singing along loudly with the words as you listen and learn the song! God is so good!

We look forward to Worshiping together again with you all next Sunday! May God Bless all of you!

03.05.20 The words of Christian hymns truly never leave you

The words of Christian hymns truly never leave you. Their words and what they mean to our lives are imprinted on our hearts. No matter what amount of time has passed, when we hear the music, the words come streaming back into our minds and out of our mouths as we sing them!  I listen to a lot of hymns on my computer while enjoying creating in my craft room. Right now I’m listening to Alan Jackson sing several hymns played on Roy’s computer in his office. The volume is turned up so I can hear them in the living room.

What made me start thinking about hymns staying in our hearts was something that happened yesterday. We had one of our occasional visits from our son Chip. He brought the Alan Jackson CD “Precious Memories” with the hymns on it. We played them like we are doing right now. Chip was cooking a special breakfast for us and I started to hear him sing with the hymns. He sang every word of hymns he had not sung in church in years.

Chip was raised at our church Trinity Baptist Church where we’ve mostly sung from a Baptist Hymnal all his growing up life. As an adult, he began going to and now is a member of a non-denominational church that does not sing hymns. They sing contemporary Christian songs which I also love but they are not the old hymns. I would have thought he’d have forgotten the words of the hymns he used to sing. Not so, he could sing every word of every song we listened to.

Roy, Chip and I were singing together with the music. Chip was in the kitchen cooking, I was in the living room and dad was in his office.

The sounds of the music, our three very untrained voices, all singing praises to our Lord was a moment I won’t soon forget. I thank God for our Christian family and the love for our Lord that we all have.

The weekend is almost here, I hope you have a Blessed one!

11.03.19 A quiet thought for October 27th, by Rev. Bob Adams

Wind. Pneuma. Spirit. Breath. The Spirit, Breath of the God-head, moves on and in us as HE desires carrying us ever deeper into the riches of the grace and truth of Jesus.

What a glorious way to live: ushered through every day by the gentle nudging of the Spirit of Jesus!

Sometimes the Spirit blows us into beautiful places, calm spiritual harbors where all feel safe and well.

At other times He carries us out to sea and we find ourselves lost in the vast, unendingness of the will of God. Now and then He takes us into storms for purposes we cannot see.

What a glorious way to live!

However, on too many days I assume I have arrived and there are no more new, eternal places He wants to take me.

On those days I never set the sails of my heart to catch the Wind of the Spirit but remain anchored to yesterday’s glory.

But, oh, in those hours and days when I yield to His leading!

May the wind of His Spirit blow across your heart today.

Grace to you!
