07.02.19 TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH, FROM THE SKY!

Our church, Trinity Baptist Church, recently broke ground and poured the foundation for our new Trinity Family Life Center.  After church Sunday when most everyone was gone, Roy and his spiffy Drone (Zelda) took to the air to capture aerial photos of the new building’s foundation and the rest of the church buildings, softball field and property.  As construction proceeds, we hope to share more aerial photos with ya’ll!

Sanctuary, parking lot to the right and parsonage to the left

Sanctuary in front by the road (Pumpkin Center Road), Education Building in the back and Youth Building, the smaller building next to that

The foundation for our Family Life Center!  It’s in the back of our Education Building and Youth Building.  The Family Life Center will be a two story, over 9000 square foot building.

Zelda zoomed higher! The small building to the right of the foundation is the concession stand for our softball field. Lots of good memories there for the Chauvin family!

and higher and higher!

The softball field at the back of the church property.  Both our sons played a lot of softball games back there. Lots of other church events have been held at the softball field.

A few of our favorite folks were a little leary of the humming Zelda taking their picture but they managed to smile so their picture could be taken! Thanks, Ms. Louise, Johnnie, Spot, and Leanna!

And Zelda Zoooooms down!

That’s it for now.  Thanks Roy (and Zelda) for these terriffic photos! As construction proceeds we’ll try to get more pictures and share!

Ya’ll have a very blessed week!

06.17.19 I Want to Be That House! by Liz Newman

I Want To Be That House! by Liz Newman

For as long as I can remember our house has been one with an open door policy.

Long before kids were ever even thought of, friends gathered here more often than not and you never knew when someone would pop in.

Admittedly, it was my husband who created this feeling in our home and it was one I had to adjust to when we got together.

But the older my children get the more I realize just how much I want to be THAT house.

I Want To Be That House

I want to be that house.

You know the one. The one where all the kids want to go.

The house where kids know they can show up and be greeted with a smile and a “How was school this week?”

The house every kid knows they will have fun at; but a house that will not hesitate to call their mama if need be.

The place they gather to on Friday nights to play video games way past their bedtime.

The house that allows mud on the floor, dirty socks and shoes thrown about, and 7 half empty cups on the kitchen table.

The house that isn’t mad when the nail polish spills.

The house that can handle the noise of 4 giggly girls plus 3 crazy boys. At the same time.

The house where there will always be fruit snacks in the pantry and juice boxes in the fridge.

The latest Playstation game.

Extra clothes and a toothbrush for whoever sleeps over.

Extra pillows.

Extra blankets.. I want this house to be comfort and happiness and love. Not just for my two kids but for their friends, too.

I want to be the house that my kids know they can bring someone for dinner that might need a break from their own house.

The house where someone can stay the night because they’re having a hard time at home.

There will be plenty of things I can’t do as a mother, but what I can do is love fiercely, and give you a home that feels so safe and secure you don’t want to leave.

I want to be that house. ♥

Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.

Roy has worked hard every day to provide for our family. He’s brilliant in more ways than I can count. The knowledge and skills he passed along to his sons is amazing. For all the years of sweat and tears, love and caring you’ve given to me and the boys, I thank you Roy!

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful and caring dads out there!

P.S. This is your card and your present!

06.13.19 When I Am An Old Lady, by Joanne Bailey Baxte

Other than the smoking, I’m thinking this may be me one day!  Enjoy~
Image may contain: 1 person

When I’m an old lady, I’ll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they’ve provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they’ll be so excited!
When I’m an old lady and live with my kids.

I’ll write on the walls with reds, whites and blues,
And I’ll bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes.
I’ll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I’ll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they’ll shout!
When I’m an old lady and live with my kids.

When they’re on the phone and just out of reach,
I’ll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they’ll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
When I’m an old lady and live with my kids.

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I’ll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I’ll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry I’ll run if I’m able!
When I’m an old lady and live with my kids.

I’ll sit close to the TV, through channels I’ll click,
I’ll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I’ll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud ’til the end of the day!
When I’m an old lady and live with my kids.

And later in bed, I’ll lay back and sigh,
I’ll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, “She’s so sweet when she’s sleeping!”

05.30.19 Faith = Believing that God’s Word is True. ALL of it! by Deborah Thompson

Thoughts on my Devotion this morning…

People let me down.

I let myself down.

Promises are made, but not kept.

Words are given but then broken.

It’s impossible to have real faith in others. It’s also impossible to have real faith in myself.

How many times have I said, “I’m going to <insert intention here>”, and then didn’t follow up? This knowledge can really destroy my ability to have faith, period.

BUT GOD…

God never asked me to have faith in others. He never asked me to have faith in myself. He asked me to have faith in Him.

He has NEVER lied, let me down, failed to fulfill His promises, spoke a word and then broke it. Never. He has ALWAYS been faithful to His word. Always.

When I read Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

I have to remember that I must have faith in God, that He is my only source, He is the One who is the substance of things hoped for, He is the One who is the evidence of things not seen.

THAT is true faith. It all goes back to relationship, to my belief that God has all the answers, has made a way, and WILL work all things for my good, BECAUSE.. He said He would.

Faith = Believing that God’s word is true. ALL of it.
