04.27.19 Easter, Senior Adult Luncheon, and Baseball!!!

We enjoyed a great Easter at our home with some family members of our daughter in law Misty.  The weather was magnificent and we enjoyed visiting with Misty’s family and their neighbor Ellen who brought me a beautiful daisy plant!  It wasn’t until after they left that I realized I had planned to hide Easter eggs and play some games. I can only shake my head about that one…

Thursday we enjoyed a wonderful Senior Adult Luncheon at our church, Trinity Baptist. The food was delicious and we were treated to hearing Rev. Bobby Holder speak to us.  I got to sit next to an older couple from our church that I did not know. It was nice getting to know Sheila and Sammy!  Also, I got to sit across from my friend Cindy and her husband Bobby.  I always say that when I grow up I want to be like Cindy!  She is such an inspiration and I enjoyed getting to catch up on life with her.  I did not take one photo.  I was talking too much!

Saturday we went to see two of our grandchildren play baseball. They are so precious!  They played on two different fields right next to each other.  We sat between the two fields and our necks turned in whatever direction the action was happening!  Wow!  Our grandson, the older of the two grandchildren, played last year and plays really well this year.  He got some good hits, scored, played excellently in the field and their team won.  He’s the tallest on the team! The younger ball player is a granddaughter whose first year playing is this year.  Her focus and attention to the game was impressive for a first year player. She got a couple of good hits, she scored, made some good catches and was just flat out adorable!  Her age team doesn’t keep score but she was a winner in our eyes! We got a big smile and hug from our precious grandchildren and loved it! Sorry, no pictures, per their parents!

I’ve asked Roy to write about his eye surgery done on the 18th of April and I hope to get to post that next!

Ya’ll have a Blessed weekend!

Be true to yourself. Do what makes you happy. Be with who makes you smile. Laugh as much as you breathe. Love as long as you live. Say what you need to say. Offer a helping hand when you’re able. Appreciate all the things you do have. Smile. Celebrate your small victories. Learn from your mistakes. Realize that everything is a lesson in disguise. Forgive. And let go of the things you can’t control. And let God lead you each and every day.  Peaceful Moments for Women

ONE PAIR OF HANDS

Lyrics
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
And when I think of God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow with humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

A lot of people like this picture. So I wanted to take a minute to tell the story. Milton West was my childhood next door neighbor. I knew him as Mr. Chip. He retired from DOW chemical as an operator. He has always been there for me since I was two years old. Growing up without a father was always difficult for me. But the good lord surrounded me with great men, Mr.Chip was one of them. He constantly preached the value of an education, taught me how to take care of a yard, he taught me to see people for who they are not what they look like, he taught me how to treat my mother like a saint and many other life lessons. His contributions to me becoming a good son ,man and father were huge.

I am forever grateful for God putting him in my life.

So this past May my wife and I had a little boy named Bob Wayne Shugart. When Mr. Chip and his wife Shirley saw him they fell in love with him. They babysit him sometimes and we go and visit when we can. The last time we were over there Mr. Chip said he wants to be called “POP”. He says that’s his grandson. So we had to come up with a name for his wife. We decided on Lolli!!!!

So we tell Bob Wayne we are going to see Lolli Pop!!! I’m grateful that Lolli and Pop will be apart of my sons life. If he learns half the things from Mr . Chip as I did he will become a great son, man and father.

Everyday I read something negative and how race relations are worse than ever. I disagree and I hope this is a positive loving message to many people. This is just one story in little ol Victoria , Texas. I m sure there are millions of similar stories across the United States.

Peaceful Moments for Women shared Cody Shugart’s post

I LOVED THIS ONE, HOPE YOU WILL TOO!

THE TRAIN by John MacDonald

At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side.

As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life.

However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone.

Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum.

Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don’t realize they vacated their seats.

This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.

Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down.

So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are.

It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

I wish you all a joyful journey.

This section is new to our blog.  I love Christian music.  A friend of mine, Nancy Duvic, began sharing a graphic each Sunday of the title or words from a Christian song.  Sometimes it’s a hymn and sometimes a contemporary song.  I love that she does this because it starts my mind early on a Sunday singing the song, helping my human self concentrate on God.  I hope you all will enjoy these each week on whatever day I publish the blog!

This song is by Terry Butler and appears on the compilation 25 Top Vineyard Worship Songs: The River Is Here (2002).

LYRICS

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing
In your eyes
Every hour, every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
In Your eyes

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
Every hour, every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
In Your eyes

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing
In your eyes
In Your eyes
Every hour, every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
In Your eyes

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

The words of the music that goes along with this are in a foreign language.  If it turns out they are saying something offensive, I am most sorry!  The doggies were just too cute to pass up!

04.09.15 Santa Paul, Madisyn, Strawberry Festival!

10177234_536050113198655_3156623665855265446_nWe have not stopped the last few days!

Thursday, April 9, 2015 -Roy’s brother Paul (aka Santa Claus) came to visit the same day we had a visit from Madisyn.  Madisyn was so surprised and is always so well behaved around Uncle Paul, just in case he is really Santa.  We took them out to dinner to our local seafood buffet at White’s in Husser.  Here’s some pictures of Roy, Paul and Madisyn at home and at White’s.  Santa did assure Madisyn she was on the nice list.  Don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret (she says)!

20150409_165023 20150409_184123 20150409_184141After we got home I saw on Facebook that a friend’s children had spotted Santa driving a Tahoe.  Lo, and behold, it was Uncle Paul.  Here’s the picture she shared!   What a coincidence we saw him that day and he was wearing the same thing!  Always a little touch of red even when it’s not Christmas time!

paul santa in tahoeFriday, April 10, 2015 – We took Madisyn to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival for the 12-4 children’s ride time.  The rest of the festival time is a lot of adults and this is the best family friendly time to go.  We saw lots of friends with their children and had a great time until the skies opened and lightening put a stop to all the rides and sent us on home!  I am really sorry we didn’t get to have any of the chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry cakes, strawberry drinks and all of the other strawberry specialties that are offered.

Here’s some pictures from the festival and some of Madisyn rides and having fun.

Good Friday 04.03.15 Madisyn, Linda, Ashley and Nathan come to visit!

jesus eggsGood Friday, April 3, 2015 – This is looking like it’s going to be a great family weekend. Madisyn arrived early this morning to brighten up our day. We hopped up onto our bed and opened bag after bag of candy. Then we filled up each of the plastic Easter eggs.  She loved doing this cause she could nibble a bit now and then.  She’s such a helpful child and always willing to do so.

Roy’s sister, Linda, and her granddaughter (our niece) Ashley came to visit after lunch with Ashley’s son Nathan.

20150403_152334Nathan and Madisyn are great buddies as we could tell from their delight to see each other and get to play.  They each picked out about 8 rocks from our gravel driveway and I let them sit on a large piece of cardboard (from a box) with a fresh set of paints.  They very creatively painted each one and they are now part of our ever growing garden decoration!  Below they are flying airplanes and helicopters on Paw Paw’s computer!

madisyn and nathanWe had a wonderful visit, getting to catch up with Linda and Ashley while the children played.  When they left they took Madisyn with them to White’s for dinner and on to Chip’s house where Madisyn is spending the weekend.

Tomorrow we head over to my sisters house for our family Easter gathering!

Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!

Easter 04.05.15 Hallelujah! He is Risen!!! He is Risen Indeed!

easter empty tomb Easter Sunday, March 5, 2015 – To a Christian, Easter Sunday is everything.  It is the day we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Unlike most other “holidays” it’s one Christians observe every day of the year. It is the anchoring message in the Christian faith.  All Christians, regardless of their denomination, believe that Christ rose from the dead and lives in Heaven with his and our father, God.   I don’t think that believe is even a strong enough words – WE KNOW IT to be true!

a8efef0f554885074f6df10e46cad92d

My favorite hymn Because He Lives (not the new contemporary version) explains my feelings about the resurrection perfectly.  Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, yet he arose from the grave and lives today. The words of the chorus read:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

The verses say as much to my heart as the chorus does. The words to each verse are:

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!empty grave

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

And then one day, I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives!

Some of ya’ll who have read my blog for a while have read these words before. and know this to be the song that touches my heart the deepest.  Lots of ya’ll who are Christians know this song well and probably have related its words to something in your life of great meaning. I absolutely want it sung at my funeral because on that day I will have crossed the river and be in the glorious presence of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As I get older, that thought becomes more and more inviting.

Ya’ll have a blessed Easter.  Remember,  HE IS RISEN, HE IS RISEN INDEED!

04.04.15 – Chauvin/Roussel family Easter gathering

easter he is risenSaturday, April 4, 2015 – We met Chip’s family at my sister Harriett’s house in Madisonville for our Easter Family gathering. That’s what the filled plastic eggs were for.

Madisyn, as always, loves to play with her cousins Sally, John and Annie. They just get back to playing like there hasn’t been months since they’ve seen each other. We had a little men Easter egg hunt and an older kids Easter egg hunt with everyone having a great time.

We ate pizza, fruit salad, regular salad, chips and dips, chocolate covered strawberries and desserts. Great food and family fun. I love visiting with my niece Dana and nephew Greg and their families. Very happy we are home at this time to be part of the gathering. WARNING: A LOT OF PICTURES ARE BELOW. We are back home now, resting up (recovering actually!) from a wonderfully fun family day.  Easter Sunday is tomorrow.  Our only plans for tomorrow are to go to church to Worship our Lord and give thanks for Christ’s death on the cross which paid the price for our sins.

Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!
