Easter 04.05.15 Hallelujah! He is Risen!!! He is Risen Indeed!

easter empty tomb Easter Sunday, March 5, 2015 – To a Christian, Easter Sunday is everything.  It is the day we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Unlike most other “holidays” it’s one Christians observe every day of the year. It is the anchoring message in the Christian faith.  All Christians, regardless of their denomination, believe that Christ rose from the dead and lives in Heaven with his and our father, God.   I don’t think that believe is even a strong enough words – WE KNOW IT to be true!

My favorite hymn Because He Lives (not the new contemporary version) explains my feelings about the resurrection perfectly.  Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, yet he arose from the grave and lives today. The words of the chorus read:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

The verses say as much to my heart as the chorus does. The words to each verse are:

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!empty grave

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

And then one day, I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives!

Some of ya’ll who have read my blog for a while have read these words before. and know this to be the song that touches my heart the deepest.  Lots of ya’ll who are Christians know this song well and probably have related its words to something in your life of great meaning. I absolutely want it sung at my funeral because on that day I will have crossed the river and be in the glorious presence of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As I get older, that thought becomes more and more inviting.

Ya’ll have a blessed Easter.  Remember,  HE IS RISEN, HE IS RISEN INDEED!

04.04.15 – Chauvin/Roussel family Easter gathering

easter he is risenSaturday, April 4, 2015 – We met Chip’s family at my sister Harriett’s house in Madisonville for our Easter Family gathering. That’s what the filled plastic eggs were for.

Madisyn, as always, loves to play with her cousins Sally, John and Annie. They just get back to playing like there hasn’t been months since they’ve seen each other. We had a little men Easter egg hunt and an older kids Easter egg hunt with everyone having a great time.

We ate pizza, fruit salad, regular salad, chips and dips, chocolate covered strawberries and desserts. Great food and family fun. I love visiting with my niece Dana and nephew Greg and their families. Very happy we are home at this time to be part of the gathering. WARNING: A LOT OF PICTURES ARE BELOW. I cut out half but there’s still a lot!

We are back home now, resting up (recovering actually!) from a wonderfully fun family day.  Easter Sunday is tomorrow.  Our only plans for tomorrow are to go to church to Worship our Lord and give thanks for Christ’s death on the cross which paid the price for our sins.

Ya’ll come back now, ya’ hear!

04.01.15 A little catch up! and a new For Lease sign!

this was my computer etchasketchWednesday, March 1, 2015 – A new For Lease sign is now in our front yard courtesy of our wonderful agent, Jamie Johnson.  We gave it all we could to try to rent it on our own but still don’t have a renter.  Jamie will make that happen….. no pressure Jamie!

20150401_154224Since last Wednesday and now we’ve been sort of busy.  We bought and sprinkled grass fertilizer and Centipede seed, watering everyday and waiting for something to grow!!.

Thursday evening we took Madisyn and Chip with us to eat at Whites.  All you could eat crawfish was on the buffet.  Our first crawfish of the season!  Roy bought a couple of king crab claw scissors and we got to use them for the first time.  Madisyn eats so well when we go there and that’s always a good thing.

Madisyn spent Thursday night with us and Friday morning we played outside a good bit before her mom came to get her.  Here’s some pictures.  As always even if she’s here for just a few hours we take at least a photo per hour!

20150327_10460620150327_105720 20150327_110657 About two years ago Roy bought Madisyn a big girl watch.  It was too big and she wasn’t ready for it so we kept it.  During this visit Paw Paw gave her lessons on how to read it using big and little hands.  We practiced with her while she was here and since it now fits her (almost) she left with it on her wrist.

Here’s a picture of the stepping stones Roy put down leading to the front door from the driveway.

20150330_124713This Friday we’re having a visit with Roy’s sister Linda and his niece Ashley.  Haven’t had a good visit with Linda in a while so we’re both looking forward to it.

Saturday we are going to  my sister Harriett’s with our family for Easter.  Egg hunt, pizza and salad!  I love how unconventional our family has gotten with its holiday celebrations!  Harriett and I are too old to do all the big cooking we use to and I’m good with that!

Ya’ll have a great week before Easter!

11.17.14 Dora’s Blog Changes and other stuff!

I now write and publish three different themed blog posts each week.

ALZ BLOG LOGOjpg SOME THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT ALZHEIMER’S.

I am working with WordPress on a way to separate them so that they are not all under Dora and the Explorers.  So far it seems it may not be as clean of a differentiation between the three as I want.  You may see things look a little different or act a little different but please be patient as I try to get this worked out.

It may end up requiring my followers to have to sign up to follow each one.  If you’re not interested in each one it’s certainly not a requirement.  If you read any of them from time to time please go ahead and select follow on the right hand side and enter your email address.  WordPress will send you an email each time a blog post is published so you can stay current with all our travels, all the funny and heartwarming Wednesday things and learn all you can about caring or just loving someone with Alzheimer’s.

give thanks scrabble lettersI just left Roy up in the attic of our sticks and bricks house.  The home inspector report gave our house a pretty good the lord is my strengthreport but there were a few things they recommended we do and we agreed to do them.  The house is 26 years old so we’re pleased (and I’m very thankful Roy can do most all of the work) with our short to-do list!  It is costing us money and a lot of hours work on Roy’s part, but I guess it could be worse.

I joined Roy in the attic for 3 hours cleaning off the duct work insulation so the new duct tape would stick.  I then re-duct taped many seams and tears and am quite proud I didn’t fall through the floor/ceiling or fall out of the attic opening which was my biggest fear!  I just kept saying to myself “Be a big girl and you can do it, you can do it.”

Last Wednesday I cooked a big pot of Chili and brought it to Chip’s house for everyone to enjoy.  Precious Madisyn met us at the door with a big smile.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them. Here’s some pictures from our time with them.

We have a couple of weeks (less if all goes well) before the act of sale when we’re officially no longer Hammond homeowners.  That’s my update on our world!
