GOD’S PROVISION IN TIMES OF NEED, By Debbie McDaniel

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Sometimes the needs in our lives seem to mount up high. Maybe you’re waiting, or have been praying, for help, for a breakthrough. Maybe you feel like it’s been slow in coming, or that you can’t see a way out of your current situation. Maybe the needs seem to far outweigh the reality you’re living in. You’ve lost hope, feel alone in the struggle, and the weight of stress seems too hard to keep shouldering.

Whatever the need – physical, spiritual, financial, emotional, relational – His Truth reminds us that He’s got “this thing,” whatever it is, that concerns you.

He is able.

Fully.

To provide what you need.

–  “And my God will meet (supply, provide for, accomplish, complete)

–  all your needs (necessities, tasks)

–  according to his glorious (bright, majestic, splendor)

–  riches (wealth, abundance) in Christ Jesus.”

Our God who created the entire world and designed you and I with such purpose and intent can provide, will provide, out of His richness, fullness, wealth and treasure, for every single need we have. He gives favor. He lines up our pathways to be in the right place at the right time. He miraculously accomplishes so many things for us every day that we may not even be aware of. And He will bend over backwards just to give to you out of His riches. Whether we realize it or not.

Because He loves us.

We will never out give the richness of God for us. Because His provision is really not based on us. It’s based on His character, and He is Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides.

Resting there today. Right smack in the middle of His abundance.

Hope you are too.

Grace.

EATING IN THE FIFTIES

Pasta had not been invented.  It was macaroni or spaghetti.

A take-away was a mathematical problem.

Pizza?  Sound like a leaning tower somewhere.

Bananas and oranges only appeared at Christmas time.

All chips were plain.

Oil was for lubricating, fat was for cooking.

Tea was made in a teapot using tea leaves and never green.

Cubed sugar was regarded as posh.

Chickens didn’t have fingers in those days.

None of us had ever heard of yogurt.

Healthy food consisted of anything edible.

Cooking outside was called camping.

‘Kebab’ was not even a word, never mind a food.

Sugar enjoyed a good press in those days, and was regarded as being white gold.

Prunes were medicinal.

Pineapples came in chunks in a tin; we had only ever seen a picture of a real one.

Water came out of the tap.  If someone had suggested bottling it and charging more than gasoline for it, they would have become a laughing stock.

The one thing that we never ever had on/at our table in the fifties… was elbows, hats and cell phones.

Welcome to the life of an old guy!

Some Things I Learned About Dementia

04.08.20 Wacky Wonderful Wednesday from 06.28.18

Happy 80th birthday to my amazing big sister Harriett! Here we are together many decades ago! She’s the pretty tall one!

This video features LSU’s Coach “O” Orgeon!

DO IT ANYWAY, by Mother Theresa

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  BE KIND ANYWAY.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  SUCCEED ANYWAY.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  BE HONEST AND SINCERE ANYWAY.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  CREATE ANYWAY.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  BE HAPPY ANYWAY.

The good you do today will often be forgotten.  DO GOOD ANYWAY.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  GIVE YOUR BEST ANYWAY.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  IT WAS NEVER BETWEEN YOU AND THEM ANYWAY.

Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes
Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
You’re rich in love
And You’re slow to anger
Your name is great
And Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find
Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
Bless You Lord
And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near
And my time has come
Soon my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forever more
Forever more
Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
Yes I will worship Your Holy name
Lord I will worship Your Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
Jesus, I will worship Your Holy name

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN’T LOOKING

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you hang my
first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make my
favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little
things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I heard you say a
prayer and I knew that there is a God I could always
talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you take care
of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’t
feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw tears come
from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw that you
cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be..

When you thought I wasn’t looking I learned most of
life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I looked at you and
wanted to say,’ Thanks for all the things I saw when
you thought I wasn’t looking.’

Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher, friend)
influences the life of a child. Let’s make sure it is a GOOD influence!

God has a destiny for you. He has a purpose and a plan for you. He has something that maximizes your skills, personality, experiences, passions and compassions in a way like no one else ever could.

God sets twists and turns in all our lives that provide opportunities for us to grow, mature, be humbled, learn, develop, surrender, gain confidence and more. I call these twists and turns “detours.”

Detours are a good thing that often feel bad.

We learn patience, compassion, kindness, gratitude and all those wonderful things that empower us to fully live out our dreams. You may feel that your life right now is on one ongoing detour from fulfilling your dreams … while you’re serving the needs of others, setting your own hopes aside. But, just like Joseph whom God positioned from the pit to the palace, God has a plan for every moment in your life as well. Yes, even the most mundane and monotonous ones.

God is taking you straight to your destiny … in His ever God-like-zig-zagging-sort-of-way.

Father God, help me keep my eyes open and learn to look for Your hand in the midst of happenstance, so my hope remains steadfast and my heart remains full.

..new day & *no fears* because fears are just the bad stories we tell ourselves. *And your Father is far bigger than your fears.*

This is why “I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken” Psalm 16:8.

He pulls you right close & whispers it, “Do Not Be Afraid.”

He knows how hard things are. And He knows how *faithful He will be.*

That’s why He repeats it again & again, 365 times, so we don’t have need to fear any day of the year: Do Not Be Afraid.

He holds every minute of this day & His grace & timing are *perfect.*

You can abandon all your cares because Christ will never, ever abandon you. You can abandon your fears and abide in the safe expanse of Your Father.

So we’re just going to go all out & Trust & be brave: It takes courage to listen with our whole heart to the tick of God’s timing, rather than march to the loud beat of our fears.

Descriptions are below each photoNG SAIL FISHThe Twins

Every year, a sardine run occurs in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, says Your Shot member Fabrice Guerin, who adds that this is when it’s possible to spot the fastest fish in the ocean—the sailfish—hunting fish shoals. “They drill the balls of terrified fish, offering us a stunning show,” he writes. “When I saw these two sailfish going toward the sardines against the sun, I shot as quickly as possible.” Photograph by Fabrice Guerin, National Geographic Your Shot

“A beautiful and active aurora appeared the day after a storm had passed over Iceland,” writes Takashi Nakagawa, a member of our Your Shot community. “Iceland is not an ideal place to watch the aurora because the weather in winter is mostly cloudy. I waited at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon for three days to photograph the aurora [at] this amazing place. This was a perfect night. I’ll never forget this moment.” Photograph by Takashi Nakagawa, National Geographic Your Shot

“Lying on important flyways, the wetlands of Gujarat, India, are thronged by millions of birds migrating south in winter,” writes Your Shot member Navtej Singh, who captured this scene while taking aerial shots of the port town of Jamnagar. “As I flew over the flamingoes, the birds took flight. It was an unbelievable sight, and I was right above them to capture the magnificent event.” Photograph by Navtej Singh, National Geographic Your Shot

ng fox on the rocksFox on the Rocks

Lingering at a lookout in Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park, Your Shot member Irina C. spotted this fox entering the scene. “It navigated very confidently among the rocks, moving small ones with its paws and picking up food scraps dropped by tourists during the day,” she writes. “I thought it was genius: Instead of wasting energy and time hunting for mice, this fox had it all figured out.” Photograph by Irina C., National Geographic Your Shot

The fanged pitcher plant and the carpenter ant (seen here in Borneo) have a mutualistic relationship: While the plant’s pitcher stem provides a home for small ant colonies of up to 30 individuals, the ants keep the chemistry of the pitcher’s liquid balanced by removing large insects that have found their way inside. If the insects were to rot in the liquid, it would spoil. Photograph by Christian Ziegler

ONE PAIR OF HANDS

Lyrics
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
And when I think of God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow with humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Songwriters: Stuart Keene Hine
How Great Thou Art lyrics © Capitol Christian Music Group

A lot of people like this picture. So I wanted to take a minute to tell the story. Milton West was my childhood next-door neighbor. I knew him as Mr. Chip. He retired from DOW chemical as an operator. He has always been there for me since I was two years old. Growing up without a father was always difficult for me. But the good lord surrounded me with great men, Mr.Chip was one of them. He constantly preached the value of an education, taught me how to take care of a yard, he taught me to see people for who they are not what they look like, he taught me how to treat my mother like a saint and many other life lessons. His contributions to me becoming a good son ,man and father were huge.

I am forever grateful for God putting him in my life.

So this past May my wife and I had a little boy named Bob Wayne Shugart. When Mr. Chip and his wife Shirley saw him they fell in love with him. They babysit him sometimes and we go and visit when we can. The last time we were over there Mr. Chip said he wants to be called “POP”. He says that’s his grandson. So we had to come up with a name for his wife. We decided on Lolli!!!!

So we tell Bob Wayne we are going to see Lolli Pop!!! I’m grateful that Lolli and Pop will be apart of my son’s life. If he learns half the things from Mr. Chip as I did he will become a great son, man, and father.

Every day I read something negative and how race relations are worse than ever. I disagree and I hope this is a positive loving message to many people. This is just one story in little old Victoria, Texas. I m sure there are millions of similar stories across the United States.

Peaceful Moments for Women shared Cody Shugart’s post

I LOVED THIS ONE, HOPE YOU WILL TOO!

Some Things I Learned About Dementia

04.14.18 Wacky Wonderful Saturday

THE TRAIN by John MacDonald

At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel by our side.

As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life.

However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone.

Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum.

Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don’t realize they vacated their seats.

This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.

Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down.

So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are.

It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

I wish you all a joyful journey.

This section is new to our blog.  I love Christian music.  A friend of mine, Nancy Duvic, began sharing a graphic each Sunday of the title or words from a Christian song.  Sometimes it’s a hymn and sometimes a contemporary song.  I love that she does this because it starts my mind early on a Sunday singing the song, helping my human self concentrate on God.  I hope you all will enjoy these each week on whatever day I publish the blog!

This song is by Terry Butler and appears on the compilation 25 Top Vineyard Worship Songs: The River Is Here (2002).

LYRICS

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing
In your eyes
Every hour, every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
In Your eyes

May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You, pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
Every hour, every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing
In Your eyes
In Your eyes

You’re my rock and my Redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing

I am actually crawling under the fence here but today we’re going to say I’m hunting for Easter eggs!

Thursday, March 29, 2018 – Our family honors the death and RESURRECTION (Amen!) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Easter.  Today’s silly Easter photos and video are not meant to take the place of the reality of Easter.  Just wanted to share these to bring some smiles to your face and hopefully your heart from this Wacky Wonderful Thursday edition! Have a great week! The Chauvins

PEEPS ARE MY DOWNFALL.  USE TO JUST BE AT EASTER, NOW THEY MAKE THEM ALL YEAR LONG FOR EVERY HOLIDAY.

The Unkind Person in Your Life, By Nylse Esahc

“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:32

Hurt happens. It happens to all of us, often when we do not anticipate it. It happens in families, it happens in friendships, it happens with co-workers, and we even hurt ourselves. The most confusing kind of hurt, though, is the hurt that happens for seemingly no reason.

Maybe for you it’s the customer service person who’s supposed to be helping you out but keeps making everything more difficult with their attitude. This scenario rubs you the wrong way every time. You assume that kindness is a part of their job description without considering why they may be behaving rudely in the moment.

Or maybe you’re dealing with an acquaintance who is constantly inconsiderate to your kind gestures. They disregard your feelings when you express them and say that you are “sensitive” without trying to hear you out. You do not understand their lack of effort to change, especially since you’ve vulnerably expressed your concerns. As we interact with people in relationships we expect them to be as invested as we are in the relationship without considering that they might not value the relationship in the same sense that we do.
